ABN-AMRO Bank
Personal Loan Problems

Dear Sir,

I had applied for personal loan from ABN Amro Bank for 1.5 lacs. The promised rate of intereset at the signing of document was 16% per anum with a processing fee of 1%.

To my surprise the following charges were stated in my loan disbursal leter from the bank:

1. Rate of interest : 17% (this is increased without my consent and any prior notice).

2. Voucher fee: Rs. 4, 500 (This is totally new entry and huge amount. I never asked for any voucher from the bank, nor the team leader Ms Diya, who was in contact with me during negotiation told me)

3. Joining fee: Rs. 761 (Again a new entry without any prior intimation)

4. Insurance premium charges: Rs. 3193 (I had not asked for any loan insurance as I have adequate insurance cover already. I had told the bank executive not to put insurance).

5. Date of disbursebent: June 20 (I received the letter only on 24th June)

Now the worst part of it all, I am supposed to pay the first EMI on 1st July! It means even before I understand the terms and call bank for clarification before depositing the cheque.

That I have not been given 1 complete month for starting the EMI is totally unfair. All the above mentioned charges were added without prior notice and without my consent.

I tried to contact the company several times, but no one lifts the phone. On 26th June after a long try, I could get one executive on line but she refused to call Ms Diya. I tried again, but she did not come herself and sent another lady to talk to me pn phone promising that she would call me back.

Even today I am waiting for her call but she never called me back. She used to call me several times in the day before loan disbursement, suddenly how can she become so busy? It is very difficult to get them on line, you have to call 10-15 time to get someone on line, and it is impossible to reach the person you were in contact to clarify and remind her of the original terms and conditions agreed upon by the bank. Can I approach any consumer forum to get justice? Please help me. I have not yet deposited the cheque.
