A maturity cheque no, 0186082 dated 16-10-09 or even a day or two earlier amounting Rs.76, 500/- is either lying with the LIC office, Mayur Vihar Phase-1 itself or in the pipe line of despatch as claimed by them. All these details have been provided by the office or specifically their accountant, Shri V.K.Sharma after a couple of visits to their office and at least a daily sometimes twice a day phone call by me with great difficulty (as the phone remains mostly busy), since 18-10-09. The routine reply is " must have been despatched by speed post, delay due to festive season (read Diwali), efficiency of Indian Postal system (typical habit of passing the buck on others) so on and so forth". But neither the accountant, nor the lady clerk, not even the branch manager took the trouble of confirming me the date of despatch, which I had repeatedly asked for. As a result, I have not been able to move out of my house for the whole day all these days waiting for the speed post man to come and deliver me the cheque, my legitimate due. Though the distance of the LIC office is about a kilometre from my residence, the cheque has not reached my place till today. I am a senior citizen and genuinely disturbed by the casual approach of the LIC.
