I and my wife are a frequent rider on OLA and UBER. Yesterday, my wife booked a autorickshaw ride on UBER. One of the drivers picked up the ride and he took around 4-5 mins to reach the pickup location. Before reaching the pickup location, he was stationed at 360 m for around 2 mins. When the driver came to the pickup location, he said that on the way he has to fill the CNG. My purpose of the ride is to get to the workplace at early as possible. Now this is trend with most of the drivers in UBER and OLA. They will pickup the ride and then inform the passenger that they need to fill petrol/diesel/CNG. This will increase the total fare which would include the waiting charge.
When asked the driver to cancel the trip, he said us to cancel as we are not ready to take the ride which will eventually give him his charge. He started the vehicle and moved few meters ahead and was watching videos on his phone. This was clear indication that he was not ready to cancel from his end. When asked him why did he pick the ride, when he knew that he needs to refill his vehicle with fuel. He started arguing and started saying - do whatever you want. He eventually cancelled the trip after 30 minutes. We have raised a complaint on UBER, however, there is not action. Would request the concerned authorities to take strict action on these errant and arrogant auto drivers and heavy fines have to be charged.
