I took a new Airtel prepaid connection no 9910377780 (Delhi circle) a week ago and I submitted all my relevant documents as suggested by the Airtel retail outlet in Vasant Kunj (Masoodpur). I was told that I would receive a verification call with in two days. I did not receive any call from them and on third day they disconnected my services. I have been running around the house since then. I went to the same retail outlet where I took the connection and they are not ready to take the ownership of the task now. They asked me to visit Airtel Showroom in Gurgaon. Then I spoke to the customer service and they are like a pain in the butt. If you call them after 9 PM, they do not pick up the call. If they pick up the call they just hang up. They put the customer for long hold and then disconnect after 4-5 minutes, they tell us that they need to find more info and put the phone aside. The call goes on for 4-5 minute, I could hear the conversations in the background and finally when he comes back, he disconnects the call, sometimes they shout at the customer. Airtel customer service is just pathetic.
I called up next morning and they rep (Jatin) and told me that the verification has failed so I have to take a new number. And when I enquired about the money I spent in buying the SIM and recharge, he said, they cannot do anything about it.
I spoke to some Ashwini in the evening (fortunately before 9 PM) and he said all is fine and I just have to wait for 24 hours for the activation and they will get the number activated for me. He said he will forward a complaint to the networks department for activation. I told him that I'm ready to submit documents again but he assured me that my number will get activated in 24 hours. As they say there is no light at the end of the tunnel, I kept on waiting and my number was not activated.
I called up next evening to enquire about the status and the next gentleman told me that there was a problem with the enrollement form and I have to go to Airtel outlet and resubmit the form. I went to the retail outlet opposite my house but they said that I have to visit the gurgaon office.
I called up next morning and I spoke to some Floor manager Ajay Verma and he was good for nothing. He told me that I have to take a new connection as my services are cancelled. When asked about the refund of my money, he plainly said no to me, he was rude on call as he was speaking to his servant.
No one is taking ownership of my problem. The Airtel service has gone from bad to worse. The customer service is lousy and I think they should shut their call centres. They have all literate, incompetent and non professional guys in their customer service. Guys there do not know how to talk politely and courteously with the customers. They take them for granted.
Could some one tell Sunil Mittal about the state of affairs he is running? He should know what is happening right under his nose. He talks about overseas acquisitions, sponsoring Delhi half marathon etc but I think he should set his house in order first.
