I have a prepaid connection from Airtel India in my name for which I had duly completed formalities and submitted ID proof in 2006. My address was verified by Airtel by one of their staff visiting my house. I have been using this phone for the last three years. Without any intimation whatsoever the phone was barred as on 14 Mar. After a few tries, when I finally could get to speak to their customer care, I was told that the connection was deactivated by them due to the failure of address verification!!! I tried to explain to them the facts and as per their advice resubmitted the ID proof at their customer care center. The customer care had promised that the phone would be activated in 2hrs after submitting the proof. But the center which accepted the proof says that it will take two days. The above incident clearly demonstrates Airtel India's lack of dedication and utter lack of customer care. I feel that the term customer care is a misnomer and should be changed to Customer abuse. Airtel in short is one of the worst mobile service providers in India. This can be seen from the number of complaints against Airtel India which can be viewed in this site. Down with Airtel.
