Airtel - Pathetic Service!

Here's my frustrating experience with Airtel.

I had a prepaid mobile number which I applied for post-paid conversion. The charges of 250 was duly collected and a new SIM was provided. Within a few hours my old SIM was deactivated and new SIM was activated. I got a message saying I was subscribed to 444 plan. After two days, all of a sudden I get a message that my number has been deactivated and i need to contact the dealer. I call up the Customer care only to know that my address verification failed as my door was locked. I fail to understand what crap-head Airtel is; for one, I don't get a prior notice as to when the person would come to make the check and two, what on this earth makes them imagine that I would be sitting all the day at home, eating peanuts, waiting for some idiot to come for the verification. Or do they expect me to not lock my home when I go for work?

I talk to their oxymoronic customer care rep only to know that my number will be activated back in 1 hour. After 1.5 hours I call back again only to know that there was no request to activate my number. After some exchange of pleasantries, I was told that the address re-verification would be done on weekend morning, but that the number cannot be activated. After another hour, I call back to find another rep who can barely manage to talk telling me that address re-verification cannot be done till the next weekday.

Does Airtel which has become evidently headstrong with its near monopoly have any sense left in their head? I am ashamed that a company of such stature stoops to such low tactics to cheat a customer. I don't understand why in their head it does not register that I already have an Airtel landline at my residence and there is seemingly no reason to re-verify that I stay at this address.

Well after this annoying experience I am left with no option but to change the service provider for neither my old SIM nor new one works now.
