I have a airtel prepaid "Lifetime Service Facility" connection for many years now. Since last month I am facing a strange problem and after repeated complaints to Airtel, nothing has been sorted out. Suddenly from one morning I notice that all incoming calls, sms and outgoing sms facility has been barred. Those trying to reach me get a message that my cell is "switched off". I have complained to Airtel over phone and online. Till now, I have received numerous mails from the customer care executives (a new one everytime - don't know why they maintain Unique reference no. when they don't track the complaints with it - one unique ref no given is 2608200917820) asking the same questions over and over again to which I kept on answering back with great patience. I now understand that they use this technique to delay the process till finally the consumer loses his patience and gives up!
I have suffered great loss because of this irresponsible service of Airtel. I think this is enough harrassment for me to raise this issue to Consumers Forum. I am always travelling, and would therefore like to know how to take it forward. I would have preferred to continue with this connection, if Airtel could have resolved this problem, as all my contacts are aware of this number.
