The BMC charges for water on an extremely arbitrary basis. How can a bldg with 16 flats consume water = to a bldg with far more flats?

BMC says it is possible even though this bldg gets less water accg to its calculations.

The meter fixed is certified by the BMC but neither the mfr nor BMC take responsibility for the quality of the meter.

How can the consumer be expected to take care of the quality? The meter fails often and the BMC bills merrily on an estimated basis. How many times can we change the meter spending Rs8000??? It hardly works for 6 months and gives false readings.

The telescopic rates affect some adversely. Over the last decade we have seen our annual water bills rise 400%, although, the water rates have not risen to the same extent.

The BMC is perhaps the only corpn with a surplus budget, even though the transport wing is at a loss. There is no surprise because they make up for water pilfered by raising revenue from the hapless law abiding consumers.

There is no logic in the way it works and it takes pride that it follows rules.
