For the past 15 years there is no piped water supply in the block that I live in. Delhi Jal Board, instead of changing the pipe line, has been supplying water through tankers on alternate days during this period. In the process it has spent crores of public funds in running the tankers. A change of pipe line would have cost just a few thousand rupees. One can just guess at the reasons behind this apathy.
Now the tanker service has too been stopped. We now have to lodge complaint every morning and then wait. Some times the tanker comes and gives 500 litres of water and otherwise we have to wait for the next day. We also frequently have to purchase water from private tankers at high cost.
We could probably go to court with a complaint but with a judicial system like ours it is not worth it. However this needs to be known by the public at large.
