NSC
Non receipt of money

Namaste Sir!

It was an experience worth remembering today at Meghdoot Bhawan, Guwahati today.

After working so hard for last one year I had managed to save some money which I wanted to invest in National Savings Certificate. I was directed to three different counters before my application was seen by one of your staffs. I was suggested counter No.1 (1st floor). After deposit of my application which was the counter person asked my for my deposit amount. I handed him Rs.50, 000/- cash which I had just withdrawn from my bank. After counting he removed one Rs.500 note and said to me to replace it. I asked the gentlemen sitting at the counter the reason for the same and he mentioned that there was some scribbling marks on the note and thus will not be accepted.

I asked him once again if the note was fake so that I could rush to my bank and get it exchanged. The man at the counter again said that it was not a duplicate note but was dirty/ had scribbling marks and thus will not be accepted. I then tried to speak to the Post Master General but he had no time for his customers. I went to the Deputy Post Master General but he said that it was not under his jurisdiction to resolve customer queries/grievances. I was even directed to the treasury dept. but they had no idea as to what needs to be done and again directed my to the Post Master. I had moved to 3 different tables without any answer.

The entire event was witnessed by Mr. Diganta Das (NSC Agent No. KDP (m)-5/746) who was with me when I was running from pillar to post to invest my years savings.

I demand an explanation why Meghdoot Bhawan, Guwahati refused to receive a payment of Rs.50, 000/- just because one of the currency note was dirty.

Why was there no person to resolve such a simple issue? Even the Post Master General refused to give 2 minutes to resolve the same but he has time to have tea and snacks at his huge cabin.

With such kind of jokers sitting in such high profile jobs I don't see much improvement in the near future. This was my 1st and last try to invest in any Govt. investment plans.

Thanking you,

Rishi Raj Kakati
