My Father inlaw Mr. Chira Ranjan Banerjee and my mother in law Mrs. Arati Banerjee having a MIS with Phool Bagan Post Office, Kolkata vide A/c No. 220266, which got matured recently. Since Mr. Chira Ranjan Banerjee passed away in May, we have intimitaed about that and they have changed the first holder name as Arati banerjee and my name Barun Kumar Das as 2nd holder. When I went to the Phool Bagan Post office on 23.07.10, from counter told me that since you are the 2nd holder cheque can be issued in your name and given one receipt copy. He has requested me to come after a week with this acknowledgement to collect the cheque. I have asked this guy, if i cannot come if i send anyone from my office with his signature attested by me, can you hand over the warrant to him? He said why not. I have sent my office boy with the authorisation letter on 12.08.10 to collect the warrant. When my person went to the Post office, the Post master told he cannot give the warrant to my office boy as my signature is not updated in their recors. When i wanted to speak to the Post master, he spoke to me very rudely saying your moter in law Mrs. Arati Banerjee has to come, and she has to fill up a form. I told him that she cannot come as she is aged lady and she is not fit. The post master was list bothered to listen anything and he said I don't know anything, she will has to come. I told him when we have given intimation about My father in laws death, that time my name and signature was updated in your record. Then he said this is not my look out, this has done by my earlier post master, I cannot do anything.
So, our request is please do necessary action against this post master and resolve the issue so that I can go and collect my cheque, which is lying at Phool Bagan Post office by showing my original PAn card or Passport. Waiting for a positive response from your side.
