MISSING ITEM OF PURCHASE

I had visited DMart Thane on 8th October to purchase some goods. One of the items I had purchased was Yardley Sandal Deodorant on which there was an offer. I went to the cash counter to settle the bill. While the girl at the counter was billing the items one by one, the man standing next to her was putting these in carry bags. The rice packet broke at the counter while the man was handling it and it was taken over by another assistant to fill the rice bag again. while this commotion continued, the other items were being billed and I was busy seeing the price and making the payment by credit card.By the time I finished signing the bill, the items were put in the carry bags and placed in the trolley. Because of the trust I had in D Mart I never thought of checking the items in the bag. I took the trolley to the parking lot which is just outside the exit door and transferred the three big carry bags onto my vehice. After I reached home, I found that the Yardley deo was missing, It was quite a big packet and the carry bags were also big so there was no question of it having fallen out. So I called up D Mart immediately and I was informed by the lady on the other side that they have to view the CCTV and she will call me up the same day and tell me the position. But after waiting in vain for a few hours I called up again and was told that they would be able to check only after 11 p.m. Again no one from DMart bothered to call me up. I again called up only to be told that I would have to talk to the Manager or someone in a higher level and that he had already left and I will be informed the next day. But ofcourse no one from D Mart called up and I was in tension. I called them up only to be told that they had put all the items in the carry bags given to me and nothing was left in the counter.

As I was 200 percent confident that the item was neither left in the trolley because there were only 3 carry bags nor had it spilled out of the bag because they were quite big to accommodate all the items. I said I wanted to view the pictures so that I can be assured that the material was actually put in my bag. But this was refused by the staff thereat and even after many calls nothing materialised.

My complaints remain unanswered and unresolved. The item I had purchased cost Rs.139.50 which is not a small amount for me as it is hard earned money. Moreover, I do not like to get cheated. The items I purchased were directly put by the assistant at the counter into the carry bags and the bags were handed over to me and placed in the trolley. The bags were just transferred from the trolley into my vehicle and as the bags were only half filled there was no question of any item spilling out and that too such a big packet. So I am very sure that the Yardley packet was never put in the carry bag either intentionally or inadvertently. I like to purchase from D Mart because of the variety and quality products we get there. I had not bothered to check up each item by item because of the trust I have in a reputed Mar t. So this incident has very much disappointed me and left me wondering about the reputation of D Mart. This is something I never expected would happen in a place like DMart. After spending on petrol and time to visit DMart you end up with a big loss is not something acceptable.

I hope my complaint in this site will find me a solution and I would like to be compensated for this loss

My Bill No. is 05-0121 dated 8.10.2010 and I had spent a total amount of Rs.1753.15
