I contacted JMD Maid placement (Sunlight colony) service in November after i saw an advertisement in ET. They (owner Shiv) told me they could provide me with a full time maid immediately and wanted Rs 1000/- for me to book a maid. Early december they sent me a maid and took the full amount of Rs9000/- This maid was a Nepali lady who was meant to stay a year with us. Within 10 days she annouced her mother is sick and she needs to leave. We asked her to stay till we got a replacement. We contacted JMD, who immediately became hostile. In the meanwhile the maid told me she wanted half day leave and left and disapeared. The agency would avoid my calls and when confronted would tell me they will send some replacement in 2-3 days. This went on for a month and i asked them to return my money. I found the cell numbers were switched off and landline disconnected. I contacted a friend in the police and they informally tried to trace the agency. I was told they had locked up the sunlight colony agency temporarily.
I also discovered that the Nepali maid had confided in my other maid her plans to soon leave for Nepal and just wanted a place to stay for a few days.
This maid also stole my watch and Rs1000/- from my drawer before she ran away. I am fed up trying to call the placement agency number, which is generally switched off. Occasionally when i speak with them there response is we will return your money tommorow. I'd be a fool to believe there tommorow will ever come.
