SIM rejected - Airtel has not done anything for 15days

For no apparent reason i started to get "SIM Rejected" message on my mobile on 7th September. Contacted the nearest Airtel shop. They told me that their systems are down since 1st Septemebr 2009 and would be up on the 10th of September. They would not be able to help before that.

On 11th we were told to come on 14th. On 14th morning, they gave a new SIM, saying it will get activated within 4 hours. On 15th September 10:30a.m., I am still holding a mobile that does not work.

I am amazed that the biggest telecom operator of the country can be so ill prepared as far as their IT systems are concerned and take their customers for granted.

If number portability was on, I would have switched by now.
