Postpaid connection

Hi, I want to get new connection of Idea Post Paid. I want to get number of my choise. The Idea galari person told me that i you want chooose number then it cost to start from 500 to 50, 000 INR. & the amount gose to IDEA by cheque. is it necessary to pay the amount for choose number? any body give me the right ans.
