Dear Sir,
I had applied for Number Portability on 21st Jan for my Reliance CDMA No to Vodafone GSM. The first time I was informed that the Code is not valid and not accepted by the systems at Vodafone. I did write an email to the nodal officer at Reliance and even followed it up on phone on their nodal office helpline nos for their resolving the issue, but that never happened.
I waited for 15 days and have re-applied on 6th feb with new code. This time Vodafone people informed me that Reliance has rejected the Code stating that the UPC is not valid. This is amusing because the UPC was generated by me in person at Vodafone store.
My UPC Code is RM 129544 valid till 21st feb. This has come from the TRAI system I believe and so I wonder how it can be wrong. Both the times when I genereated the UPC code, I got a call from Reliance customer care the very next date wanting to know why I wanted to Port my no. However, they did not allow the porting to be complete by rejecting the code. It apparently appears that Reliance is playing some kind of mischief as it is afraid of losing customers.
I have once again writen a letter to the nodal office to do the needful, but I doubt they would.
The biggest problem with MNP is that there is no Dept or helpline or Forum where one can complain and take these operators to task and in almost all cases they are the culprits and not the consumers.
I need to know what I can do now as at the moment it seems that this MNP is nothing but just another SILLY Value Added service which almost all mobile companies give to make money and have no meaning at all.
Yours truly
Amit Kothari
