Fraudulent charges for mobile internet usage

I have been using airtel connection (9500069322) for more than a year now. Usually my bill comes to about Rs. 500 /- 200. But last month I was shocked to see a bill of Rs. 2100. When I called customer care, they said I accessed net. I dont even have GPRS and dont surf from my mobile. They were charging me at a rate of about Re. 1 per kb, ie, about Rs. 1400 for a download of 1.4 MB!

(right now they are sending smses about a new scheme which lets you download upto 2 GB per month for Rs. 98. Does this make any sense?)

The customer care people say they cant do anything. I wrote to nodal office. They were supposed to get back in 3 days but havent responded.

I really want to pull out and go to another carrier, but take my phone number with me.
