Calls charged wrongly

I am subscriber of the above mobile No. 9650001696 with a plan having local call charges @ Re.0.50/minute. However, in the last bill dated 9.04.2010 received by me, the following calls have been charged to me as local calls @ Rs.6/minute:-

1. I have never subscribed to the service of 56789 which has been charged @Rs 6/minute, as against local call charge of Re.0.50/minute as per the subscribed plan.

2. In case the charge is higher for any service than the charges advised to me, my express consent should have been taken before allowing such service on my mobile, which has not been done.

3. From the details of calls mentioned above, it is found that the gap between the calls is much less than the duration for which calls have been charged. For example, the gap between the first and the second call is 0:42:36 (17:01:43 minus 16:19:07) whereas call is charged for 60 minutes. Similarly the gap between the second call and the third one is 0:37:37 which is also charged for 60 minutes.

4. I have not made these calls. I am sure these calls have been wrongly charged to my mobile. I am using this mobile for a year and not once I have called the said number during this period. It is inconceivable of me to make calls to such numbers during office hours of working day and that too for such a long duration as stated in the bill.

5. On taking up the matter with Airtel I was given the same response again and again that the calls are correctly charged as per their record, inspite of of my raising the issue repeatedly by phone as well as emails addressed to various authorities of Airtel. Lastly, today I have been told by their Appellate Authority that they had verified the calls and found the same as correctly charged. And further that it was the best they could do in the matter.

In view of the above, I most humbly approach your good offices to seek redressal of my complaint, so that injustice done to me is undone and the service provider is prevented from fleecing the customers in the name of premium service at exorbitant rates of charges without their knowledge and consent.
