REFUND OF CHARGES – JOINT ACCOUNT HOLDER CARD (AC NO 12221150006109)

1. This is with reference to my holding of joint account holder debit cards for my account. The account no in reference 12221150006109 is a joint account. It is Navy Pay Account. Being an erstwhile CBOP customer, I have been holding the joint account holder card for my spouse from 1999. I have not payed any charges on this till date. Post transition to HDFC view the merger has revealed through phone banking that I am to pay some charges for holding the same henceforth. The same has alredy been deducted. The following are submitted: -

(a) I had chosen CBOP previously view certain facilities like no charges for add on card and so on.

(b) The add on card for our cases is a necessity as we in the forces are away from family for larger part of our time therefore requiring our spouse to have the privilege as good as the primary holder.

(c) The merger was not done with my opinion, wherein, i was not given the choice to continue or change my bank. So imposition of bank rules without my concurrence or without even informing about such rules is considered a serious breach of customer rights.

(d) This levying of charge is a CHANGE FROM THE PREVIOUS policy. I should have been informed about this change by your bank.

2. Considering the above issue, it is noted with concern that such matters are causing harassment to me. Complains regarding the same has been received from many other colleagues in the Navy. As a customer, I have right to all details and information regarding all such rules mainly in such cases when the same is a change from the previous rules (previous bank). It may be noted that many banks do not levy charges on card of joint account holder.

3. I would like you kindly review this issue and request following at your end: -

(a) The charges be reversed immediately.

(b) All such issues which are a change from the previous bank rules be informed immediately.

(c) The decision on this be immediately informed.

4. The following other issues also are causing severe harassment wherein we are not able to contact the branch manager directly and the phone banking person could merely book a complaint or give vague reply as has been given by the person during my call to Kochi on 17 sep 09 at about 1730 hrs. This needs to be addressed as well.

5. I have registered a complaint on this (complain no mum081106 dated 17 Sep 09). I would request quick and positive response from your end at the earliest. I would be forwarding this complain to my Navy Office for information and necessary action as I feel and am sure this is in contravention to my customer privileges and rights.

6. In absence of any fruitful action, i would be seriously thinking of NOT CONTINUING with your bank any further. The issue here is not of money alone but of the primary ethics of business and concern for violation of bank procedures and my rights.

7. I would also request a copy of the bank by laws with special reference of change in respect of rules as were applicable to my account (Navy Pay Account) in CBOP.
