I made the payment on my HSBC Credit bill on time, by dropping the cheaque in one of the skyboxes for the May-09 month bill. However, the Bank officials claimed that the recived the payment two days late. There were two public holidays in the week of the due-date, which might have caused the delay in clearing. I tried to make them understand but they didn't and started accumulating late payment charges every month to the pervious months outstanding (late payment charge leveied earlier). When I refused to pay, they started calling and harrasiing me. I decided to end it by setteling the account and called up the recovery guys. They said pay us Rs. 4200 and we shall settle the account. I paid the same in the month of Dec-09 and got the recipt for the same. I though I had settled the account, but to my horror, the HSBC collection centre people again started calling claiming that Rs. 4200 was used to partly settle the account and that the accout has not been fully settled as I do not have the full and final settlement copy with me and started demading Rs. 6000 more. Currently the demand has reached Rs. 12, 000. I trusted their people by paying the amount with the assurance that I will get the full and final settlemtn copy in a weeks time.
I am clear that I will not pay these thugs and istead am planning to appraoch the cosumer court.
