Dear Sir
I had been issued an ABN Amro Credit card along with an add on card in the name of my spouse in the year 2007. I had been using the primary card for one year and never used the add on card.
I had made the full payment against the due amount in the year 2008 and subsequently requested the card to be cancelled when I received no (zero) outstanding statement. Inspite of the card being cancelled, I started getting the monthly statement with the charge of Rs 299/- for the annual fee of the add on card. The monthly statements continued to be issued to me along with fine which accrued to almost Rs 1650/-. In the meanwhile, I received irritating calls consistently from customer service executives for time to time telling me to pay the amount. I maintained my stand of not paying for something which is illegal, since I was told that the card was life time free initially.
This harassement had started only after I paid off my entire outstanding amount. In the mid of year these phone calls and monthly statements stopped coming. However of late in the year while I am applying for any credit cards or personal loan to any bank, then the same is being rejected due to unfavourble CIBIL report. I learnt that this bad report is only due to the pending Rs 1650/- payment which is written off.
Please advise the forward and I have sincerely got frustrated due to this. What is my fault and why should I be penalised for selecting ABN Amro card and then choosing to discontinue the same?
Warm Regards
Partha Sarathi Pattanayak
