I wish to submit that I was made to put my guitar in checked in baggae at the Indira gandhi international Airport whie traveling from New delhi to Mumbai on 31 may 10. The reson given was that a passenger is not allowed more than 2 pieces of luggage in the cabin. I had a laptop bag and a haversack and had requested that the guitar be permitted in addition. The reason why the haversack could not be put in the check in baggae was that the weight was going to 39kgs. I requested that I was a full fare passenger and was under transfer and therefore if it could be acceptable if I could go to 39kgs. however i was intimated that I would have to pay for the same. Post that i requested the staff to put a fragile badge on the guitar and handle with care. however no such thing was done and the guitar landed broken in two pieces. It is submitted that the guitar is beyond repair and has no further utility. The broken guitar has been kept in as is condition to show the authorities when asked to.
I lodged a complaint and is recoreded as Log 92 in the register at Mumbai Airport. I was assured that someone from the airlines will get in touch with me. However todate there has been no response from the authorities. I have given reminder calls to the airport and was told that the case is beng procesed. I was told to lodge a complaint on the net to customer service. I did the same on the official website of Air India, however, the mails have bounced back. i have a record of the bounced mails on two occasions to prove the same.
I would like to now take official action against the authorities for their callous and inappropriate behaviour. I am in the goverment services and forced to fly by Air India. I have no choice.
