I had a very unpleasant experience in their Commercial Street store. I had purchased two shirts from the store a week back and since one of them did not fit me, I wanted to go and discuss the same with the store manager and see if something could be done about the same.
When I reached the store, I carried the packet into the store. Taking this as an excuse, the store manager (I assume) called me out and told me not to walk in with any item that belonged to the store since I may be billed for the stuff again. I knew that this was a valid point and immediately offered to explain my problem. When I explained, the concerned person just told me that they have no exchange policy and since I had already tried it out, he cannot do anything to help me. They did not even look at the material and offer me any help for the same.
I understand that all the claims by the person concerned were justified... but the attitude with which it was said, the way he behaved with my mother who was accompanying me and the facial expressions were extremely demeaning and cheap. I had visited the store for the first time despite being warned by a number of friends who had told me that the behaviour of staff is awful. But I was very disappointed to see that most of my friends were right and that it was an experience I would certainly not want to repeat.
I am sure they have adequate responses for my mail. But I hope they understand that treating every customer with respect is the basic that they can do. The second point I hope they understand is the fact that I chose not to lose my respect by shouting in public, but their behavior demanded just that and may be more. I am quite certain that I shall not visiting them again.
I hope the team at Hum India has the sensibility to take this as a serious reality check and look into their staff choices again.
