Mobile display problem

I have purchased (Unfortunately!!) a Celkon-make C-99 model mobile instrument from Big-C, showroom at Dabagardens, Visakhapatnam on Dec-18th of 2010. I have hardly used it for less than 10 days and one fine morning it became deffective. It was shoing some thing un recognisable on the screen. I could not make any calls as it is a toch screen type mobile. I have approcahed the Big-C showroom on 4th January and told my problem. They immediately directed me to Celkon service centre. At the Celkon service centre they said the set's display damaged and it is not covered under warranty. I requested them for the replacement of the set as it is covered under warranty and was been purchased only 15 days back, and also it was not my fault. They refused my request and denied the replacement or any exchange with other mobile. I was told that the display was physically damaged and is to be replaced, the display costs around Rs.1350/-. I have handed over my mobile phone on the same day with Big-C and taken receipt for the same. After pusuing the matter over phone with the Big-C management for one week I lost my patience and brought my set back on 13-1-11. Their stand is they will not replace the set, or they will not replace the display free of cost.

I have warned them that I shall goto Consumers forum and lodge the complant against Big-C and Celkon company. They are very cool and not at all bothered.

This is the state of a consumer in this country?
