Pathetic after sales and Incapable Techs

Hi Guys!

This is the only thing that I could have done, to vent my frustration all because of the great experience that I was put through by Sony Erricson service centre, Jayanagar 4th block, Bangalore.

I purchased this k850i from Univercell, Madiwala in the month of Aug 08, so as usaul it had a manufacturer warranty of one year on it. The phone was working absoulutely till the month of July this year. I decided to check if the phone was really capable of reading a microSD card, as boasted by them. So I bought a brand new microSD and took off the good old M2. The phone just froze up on me completely and wouldnt budge. As anyone would have guessed it, I just turned the phone off, by taking off the battery. Well that was the last time anything at all on the screen. When I tried to bring her on the next time, the keypad will light up, the camera ring will light up but nothing at all on the screen. I tried, tried and tried but nothing worked. So I knew that a visit to the service centre was inevitable, this is one of the things that I have always hated visiting service centres for warranty repairs.

So next morning, I went to the Sony Erricson, Service Centre, Jayanagar. The lady at the reception and took the phone inside and came back with an open panelm and told me something that I really didnt understand. All I grasped was she telling me that there is a fungal growth on the motherbaord, because of water spillage. Now we all know that there was no spillage whatsoever on the phone. The Phone was in a mint condition, so I asked her to prove the same to me, she showed me some discoluration near the screen that she claimed was the fungal growth, this phone has three touch screen buttons that work on touch, so sum of sweat is bound to seep through the gap between the screen and the phone body. I explained to them, but who was there to listen. She said that warranty repair was not an option for me as liquid spillage (which never occured) had voided my warranty and I will have to go for a paid service.

Since I knew, it was just a problem with the phone's firmware I asked them to flash the firmware. They charged me 150/- for the same. Asked me to collect the phone after an hour. I did that. Well!!! This is funny! They told me in a very serious tone " Sir! your phone is not taking the firmware update and she is not responding to any of out tool" for a second or two I thought that they are talking about one of my living relatives. Back to the reality, they said that its a hardware problem with the board and they will have to get the screen replaced for the phone I really didnt understand this explanation at all I swear to god. I decided to leave these morons on their coning games that they do with god knows how many poor chaps day in and day out and made a move out of there.

My phones warranty went on the 30 Aud. And I knew that I will have to handout some bills out of my pocket if I were to get my phone repaired. I started doing some research about the SE K850i Firmware. There I realized this BLUE RING OF DEATH was a known issue with the k850i and lot of people are facing the same issue with this handset. I figured that DaVinci team, can flash the phones firmware online using their client, that would have costed me some 10 credits = 10 euros. I was game for the same as I wanted my phone fixed. Then I decided to take my phone a local shop, where the tech flashed the phone in an hour and charged me only a lowely 200 bucks that all. No replacements at all.

I hate to call myself a loyal sony customer. I have been one for nearly 5 years and this is what I get?

Guys! there has to be some way to get this thing escalated to the customer experince team of Sony, god knows If there is one!
