I bought an IFB from SHAHS in Adyar, Chennai for my mother this Christmas. When I brought it home the Microwave was defective and not working. I called immediately and the SHAHS people called IFB and said they are responsible and not them (very unfriendly system in the first place). 2 days later they sent 2 IFB representatives. They confirmed defective IFB microwave and promised to exchange machine.
Well, just to add before I explain .. The real frustration I had was due to a very unfair policy of SHAHS (http://www.shahs.co.in/) is as soon as you buy the electronic item you CANNOT RETURN any item and that it is now upto the dealer to contact you regarding any bought item. Very weird policy of taking their hands of any item that they sell. Unfair I would say.
Well, till today the IFB have NOT exchanged defective machine as promised they would 1 week ago. SHAHS have taken off any responsibility (because of their very unfair policy) and so here I am at home with a brand new defective machine that they are not exchanging. We have been calling SHAHS and IFB but I am getting really fed up and I feel cheated and very unhappy with this system.
Since I am German citizen (I am half Indian German) I am used to a very different system in Germany which is very fair and straight forward. I do not know if this is common in India and thus want to register this complaint first here if it is any help.
