Customer to pay for the bloated Bill??

I had an Airtel 599 plan connection, for which always the bill amount used to be 750 plus, used or not used. Including the service tax, it should come to only about 690.Even this was ok. Once the bill came to 2200, which is way high for any usage. Instead of resolving the issue, they demanded payment and each time i asked them to resolve the issue and come up with a comfortable and reasonable amount, or i can pay the normal monthly package amount. Either that, or cancel the connection. If cancelling the account, i was willing to pay the difference on the settled amount, since the caution deposit of Rs 1000 is still with Airtel. The termination of the account was dealth with promptly, but the issue was not settled, but they kept on demending money and even threatening with legal action. I too decided to stand up for myself, and refuse to pay any amount unless they settle the issue in a way advantageous to both of us. They ahve started legal procedures now and have sent me a printed letter and some emails apart from calling me on the phone and asking for money. And still the bill comes, growing bigger, adding the late payment fees and all. What is their recovery procedure?
