Delay in disconnection of broadband connection

I am having Airtel broadband connection. I called up Airtel customer care on January 31st 2010 for disconnection of broadband connection. Customer care informed me that I will receive a call within 24 hours, which I did not receive. I again called up on 15 February for disconnection, to which customer care mentioned that no request has been received earlier. So a new request was logged in customer care (I was told that I will receive a call within 24 hours, which again I did not receive). Also, the customer care mentioned me that for disconnection, I need to go to any Airtel customer care center and return the broadband instrument and then my connection will be disconnected.

I went to Airtel Customer Care Centre near IIT Delhi and the executive mentioned me that they cannot accept the instrument and so I called up Airtel customer care again on Feb 16 and again put disconnection request on Feb 16.

I got a call on February 22 for confirmation of disconnection.

On Feb 24, I called up customer care to check the status, and the executive mentioned me that there is no request for cancellation.

The complaint is on account of following:

No logging of request for disconnection;

Mental harassment;

No follow up done till date

The Airtel is simply harassing the customers in case they want to disconnect the services. For meeting their targets, customer care didn't put any request for cancellation.
