Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc
Bad Service / Utter Negligence /Feedbacks completely ignored

Dear Sir/Madam,

I own a Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc DTSi 2007 model. I had purchase it on the 07 of the November just days after my birthday.

My initial cause of dissatisfaction with the after sales service was when on the first free service I had my motorcycle returned with scratches on the tank on the tail wings.

I had raised this issue with the Service personnel and they said the scratches already existed and if it wasn't there I should have informed them about the same. I took the blame.

I was very angry at the thought of having my brand new, expensive (at least according to my income standards) bike having a scratch on the tank, very visible. I regulary polish the bike with an imported Polish, I would have noticed that scratch if it was there.

All my subsequent services went from bad to worse and eventually to an unusable vehicle.

I had problems with having electric shortcircuits on my bike. Please note electrical problems only occur when my bike is in the service centre, and they come up say the lights have blown out and will need replacement. I tell them the lights were fine, they deny it. I pay for them after a little bit of argument.

This happened atleast 3 times. Surprisingly my right light indicator was the one that gets blown out everytime (please note, this happens not when the bike is with me, happens only at the service station at the hands of some inexperienced technician)

I travel long distances on the bike, I've done that several times. I work at Bangalore and I travel home to Calicut in Kerala, which is roughly a 350 KM ride. So I make absolutely sure that everything is in place and I was ready to spend if something was wrong.

Once I went to the service station for one of the free services and told a technician that my rear brakes were making a squeeking noise. They said that will be checked along with the routine service. So I assumed they might have replaced it if needed. They didn't. Now the drum seems to have damaged and it makes that noise whenver the brake pads wear down a little.

I had met with an accident once and had gone to the service centre for repair. The bill amount was close to 12 thousand. I didn't spare anything. I had permitted them to do any changes (for the good of the bike) and had claimed insurance and had paid the rest too.

It also required them to clear the dent on the tank which they did and they repainted it.

It was not at all painted in a proper way. There were flakes of paint inside the tank. which would sometimes clog the fuel line. It had caused a lot of inconvenience until I eventually found what the problem was. Hence forth I would remove the fuel pipe from the carb's end and blow air into it, which would displace the paint flakes and the the fuel would pass through without problems. This was not always successfull. So I had sent the bike again to the service centre to clean up the tanks.

They did clean the tank but the tank also had a drain which was clogged. I had for all those months never parked my bike in the rain, so I never knew about the new trouble. Since water would not drain down the tank through a small hole beside the fuel inlet, it would spill over and mix with the petrol in the tank.

This again led to a lot of trouble. The Carb was full of water and it also required me to take the bike to the nearest motorycyle repair shop for a emptying the water from the carb. The problem surfaced again and again.

I took the bike to the service centre. Problem not solved until three visits and 2500 Rupees for service.

The last session took three days. I was not available to pick up the bike because I was busy. I told them to take their time and fix the issue atleast. But they took three days to clean the tank. They didn't give me a call. I had to go there on the third day and had to wait 30 minutes or more for the bike to be delivered. Infact they had only started working on it when I was waiting for the delivery. I found this out from an uninformed technician (he apparently did not know when I had given the bike).

Well apart from that, while I was waiting I was quietly watching the technician working on my bike. They were doing something that was at all not required. They were pulling the cables apart with muscle power, trying to rip apart the instulation and the copper wires with their own bare hands. That was very unprofessional and they could definitely have damaged something or the other somehow. When they found out that I was watching this behind them they loosened up a little bit. They tried to remove the insulation slowly and slowly and it took a long time. They said the electrical system was full of problems. I had never tinkered with it. It was all at the service station. Only they had worked on it so far. Not even a local mechanic.

When I got the bike that evening. The bike wouldn't accelerated fast enough. I had come with a friend who owned a bajaj discover that was purchased the day the discover brand was released. His discover was atleast 4 times faster than my 150 cc pulsar.

I told them about the acceleration problem., They said it would be just my feelings about it and they found nothing wrong. They then put the bike on the rollers and accelerated it and the bike touched 104Km/hr. They showed me the results and I thought it probably was myself getting crazy about the bad service and unconsciously trying to blame them for everything or nothing. On route to my home that day the bike stalled and it didn't start up. Apparently something was wrong. They completely disregarded this annoying customer's problems.

When I pushed the bike all the way, i tried it again. it fired up but would go fast at all.

Seems like it has a problem with the clutch. The clutch doesn't seem to release completely. It takes a lot of time to pick up speed and goes 40 kms on 6500 rpm, making a lot of noise. The bike would make a lot of noise but move very slowly. I still haven't told them about the problem because I don't know what else would then destroy on my bike. I haven't finished paying the installment on the bike. I don't want to sell the bike too, its my first and I would like to keep it. I can't afford another bike because I lost my first job and the salary is not the same anymore.

There was always a problem with the gear. The gear would not never be smooth shifting. I would always make a huge noise.

It would take minutes of trying to just get the gear into neutral.. While riding its not much of a problem but the gear skips to a lower gear at times, which is very dangerous and could lead to skidding and when I think about it, it could also be fatal. This should have been mentioned earlier but I have a lot of other minor complaints that I haven't mentioned at all.

I should add this to the complaint. I get calls from Bajaj customer service regularly asking me if I was satisfied with the service. Initially I said yes inspite of all the problems faced. But later on I said I was very dissatisfied and the service burns a whole in my pocket everytime because of the excess amount and because of the very bad service. The lady on the phone promised me a call from her manager everytime, I never got a call from the manager. No one bothered.

And the Riders Manual is full of spelling mistakes and bad grammer. Is there no one at bajaj who knows good english or atleast comprehensible english.???

Very bad experience. I would never buy any Bajaj vehicles again but i wouldn't like to give up either. I am paying about 81000 for the bike including the interest charges and the taxes. I like the bikes though. I think they should set an example for Indian Quality. They are setting a very bad example.

I would go for a Yamaha or HeroHonda next time.

Any response or action taken for the complaint would be highly appreciated.

Please take action against the service centre.

POPULAR BAJAJ, Bannerghetta Road, Bangalore. They should never have been a vehicle service centre, the whole thing is badly run. I was asked to take a bike which was not my liking because it didn't have MRF tyres on it, it instead had Eurogrip tyres. All the bikes on display had MRF tyres and only mine had eurogrip tyres. I wanted them to change the bike. they said everything was done already and nothing could be done. I had only accepted every one of their demands. It felt like I was not a customer at all and they were doing a big favour. I am very displeased. These are not all the complaints.

I can't recall many of it.
