My son Kunal Bharti, on application made on 9th November, 08 for pre-paid life time mobile connection, was issued a Mobile Ph. No.9971941324 (against SIM8991100809137876988) with the firm committment that the connection would be activated within 24 hours after residence verification. On Monday last, a verification call was recieved from Airtel on our residential landline telephone, which was personally attended by me and answered properly meeting all the queries made during such residence verification. No person or representative from any source, repeat No person ever made any visit to our residence (which is located just next to Delhi Lt. Governor's residence) for any kind of personal verfication. However, the connection was not activated till Sunday-16th Nov. On personal visit to Vendor (Airtel's own centre at Bunglow Road, Kamla Nagar, Delhi-07), we were told that for want of residence verification, the number cannot be activated and has also been taken out of rolls. We were asked to apply afresh after making payment again. We protested as it amounted to deliberate cheating and committing fraud on the customer but no response from the vendor. We were not given the name of the person who might have gone for such residence verification. But this was also not done. There was total lack of transparency in their dealings. Even their customer-care service or help line has been of no use or help in this regard. I have no other alternative but to term this as totally insensitive, indifferent, callous and negligent attitude and approach towards their customers. I am a senior citizen of 63 years. I have retired from a very senior position in Govt. of India. I have mentioned this just to indicate that this complaint is not an irrelevant complaint.
