Display replaced But a defective replacement!

Sorry HP but this is what your people do!

This is the truth but the people working in HP dont really care about their customers (especially students..engineering grads!!!).

Around 2 weeks ago, i had submitted my laptop with my nearest HP service centre regarding some problems against my laptop which was working fine for the past 1 and half years. My display actually went "dim"; There was no backlight and i could see text/images/graphics very dim in color, was barely able to see them. There was NO physical damage to the LCD and/or NO liquid spill (liquid filled inside the LCD). But it could be an inverter (a PCB that powers the LCD) failure OR back-light cable displacement; but the service center engineer told me that the whole LCD unit would be replaced because they don't actually open up the unit, they simply replace it. I gave a nod and told him to fix it up ASAP (as am an engineering student, we guys have projects to work on and my exams are just passing by and i need a computer to study from my slides and ebooks and other stuff).

The second problem which i told him was to fix the caps lock LED, as it "stopped working" also there was an processor heatsink/system overheating issue. So he (the center's engineer) told me that a motherboard replacement would be the best bet he could offer to fix "both" problems.

I simply agreed to let him fix my laptop and he gave me a week's time (to be precise he gave me a 4 days margin).

On the 5th day i came to know that the parts (the new LCD display unit and the motherboard) have arrrived "BUT" i was shocked to hear from him that the LCD arrived was "NOT" the same one required for my laptop model and the new motherboard was having some problems.

So he again asked me to give some more time and gave me 3-4 days of extension period. I then hearing this agreed while taking pains and was tensed that how will i complete the assignments which i was working on??

Now it is the 2nd week is coming to an end and today only in the morning i visited the center to pick up my laptop and i was horrified and my mind was filled with anger and was thinking to sue HP.

What i came to see/know was that the laptop's replaced LCD display had some kind of external physical damage (one of the end of the display lid was damaged) AND/OR there were some manufacturing defects.

the display unit had some bright spots and image on the screen clearly signaled that there was some serious problem.

Now again the engineer asked me to leave my laptop for another LCD replacement.

Let me come to the point:

First of all if the HP people are really customer friendly then why didn't they sent the required/same model's display unit in the beginning??

Secondly: OK..i can assume that there might have been a mistake from the dispatcher and/or on behalf of the service center people BUT if i waited for sooo many days again for the LCD to arrive at the service centre THEN WHY an LCD with so many SERIOUS DEFECTS was sent/installed in my laptop??

I am an engineering student and the service center is 40 kms. from my place. Then WHY DON'T HP simply do the needful?? send in the exact model's part (s)?? Even am not sure that the replaced motherboard is a new one or not?? and whether its is having the same features of my original model or not. :'(

i don't know whether it is the service center's fault and/or the dispatcher's fault (the authority who has dispatched parts for my laptop)

HP people please see into the matter; i would be really obliged.

Regards,

Kanishk Singh
