I am submitting herewith a complaint about the missing of a consignment sent through professional couriers.
I have submitted on 14-01 one package addressed to Systems Infotech, Samsung Service Centre, Kanjikuzhy, Kottayam, containing one mobile phone (Sony Erickson, Model K800i costing around Rs. 10, 500/- with battery, case, etc. in dismantled form to rectify some defects) through one messenger at the Professional Couriers Franchise or collection centre at Meenangadi, Wayanad, Kerala and received the receipt consigner copy No.1412335. On 15-01-09 and 16-01-09 I contacted the addressee to inquire about the receipt of the consignment and came to know that it hasn't been reached at Kottayam Franchise Office He contacted the Kottayam Office in person to inquire about the consignment and received the reply that no such consignment was received in that Office instructed to contact the Kalpetta Wayanad Office. I contacted the Kalpetta, Wayanad Office over the phone and then in person and that people replied that the package has been sent to Kottayam Office on 14-01 itself and that they require some time to track the item and locate the same.
They also added that mobile phone is a prohibited item to send through courier service they have no responsibility in missing the item. To verify this I contacted many legal advisors and websites and received no such a fact. To the best of my knowledge and belief the following items are prohibited. semiprecious stones, explosives, radioactive materials, powders, corrosive materials, chemicals, pressurized bottles, Glass, Porcelain, Crockery and other such highly fragile items, Bullion or cash (including vouchers, tickets, coupons and other similar negotiable items), Coins, Negotiable instruments, Precious stones, jewellery, antiques, paintings, Other valuables or any unpackaged items.
Even if I made such a mistake you the courier people have no right to block the movement of the item or destroy the item or forfeit the item. You have the responsibility to contact the sender in the phone number provided to receive the package back. But no such things happened.
After that I contacted the Kalpetta Office several times and the Manager responded that he require some more time. After five days he replied that the on the way to Kottayam or from Kottayam Office the consignment might have missed and they could not locate the same. He also added that he contacted the Kottayam Office and came to know that all the other consignments sent along with my package have reached Kottayam Office and all of them were delivered and my package might have stolen by somebody in Kottayam Office. He revealed the fact that 6 fellows are handling the baggage at Kottayam Office.
I have missed such a valuable item and on searching the internet to complaint about this I have found a lot of such missing and stolen cases. There are a large number of very bad comments about Professional Couriers, which I thought was the best courier in South India.
I request you to take necessary immediate steps to recover the item from. No such a thing must happen to anybody in India especially in Kerala.
