Failure to register the SIM

Hi,

I have an Idea prepaid # 9718187082. Since last couple of days, it shows failed to register the SIM. I would like to know the validity of the card. Can I make it life time incoming card? I travel overseas quite a lot. I cann't afford to have this problem again and again. Your prompt response would be highly appreciated.
