I had booked three confirmed tickets from Tiruchchirapali to Hazrat Nizamuddin for journey date 29.10.09 by train no. 2641 (Thirukkural Express 3 AC from Tiruchchirapali). Train scheduled departure was 2.40 a.m. PNR 4109398072.
I contacted 139 at 1.00 a.m. on 29.10.09. The IVRS told me in English that the train is delayed by 1 hour 33 minutes. Expected departure was 4.13 a.m. The same information was given in Tamil at 1.04 a.m. I did this repeatedly from my number 0431-2482085. When I contacted again at 3.00 a.m., I was told the train is running on time and had already left station.
I had to cancel the three tickets losing 50% of the ticket money. Our whole night was spoiled and our plan for reaching Delhi was upset. Our children s school and my office schedule was also delayed because of this. I had to re-book the tickets on Tatkal basis.
I want Indian Railways to explain and compensate for the mental agony, financial loss and bad service that my family and I had to undergo for no fault of ours.
I would like to file a complaint before the Consumer Forum also if this is not done immediately.
