Indian Railways
Misdemeanour of train staff

My wife, Mrs Ranjana Bajpai, while travelling in train No 2004 Lucknow Swarn Shatabdi Express in bogie No C7, seat No 22/23/24 with my children on 14th March accompanied my 8 years old son to the toilet in the bogie, for his natural call, at about 0900 hrs and found that the main exit door of the bogie near toilet was wide open, besides toilets being dirty and stinking indicating that they are not being cleaned regularly despite siphoning money of the payers.

The positioning of the door is dangerously close to the route of the stinking toilets especially while the train is moving at high speed and needs to be closed by the staff as and when the train starts moving. The complaint was rightly registered by my wife with Mr B S Gautam, Deputy Ticket Collecting Officer available in the bogie, who in turn instead of taking the corrective measures or apologising for his inefficiency, started making mockery of the situation saying, ‘what serials are you following that made you so critical about the dirty toilets and open door.’

Sir, we don’t travel in Rajdhani or Shatabdi trains spending more for the third rate food given in style for consumption, but for the courtesy and service expected from the staff on board. Such callus staff not only undermines the very purpose of running Rajdhani’s or Shatabdi’s, but also make a blot on the overall preparation of the nation for the forthcoming Common Wealth Games.

I would request you to look into the matter critically to correct the staff before it is too late to project the ‘Image India’.
