This post is to bring to your kind attention the unhealthy food being served in the Irctc canteen (Non vegetarian) at Calicut railway station, Kerala.
I’m a student of the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala who happened to travel to Calicut with a group of around 50 Students for an educational purpose. On 28th march at around 21:00hrs, most of the people in our group had to have food (peas masala and parotta) from the Irctc canteen (Non vegetarian) at the Calicut Railway station. We had opted for Irctc due to strong belief that food served their would be hygienic and safe. But the next morning once we had reached Trivandrum by Maveli express, most of the people who had food from this particular canteen suffered from nausea, vomiting and related gastric troubles.
Personally I suffered from Gastrintis for about 2 weeks and had to incur several personal losses as well.
The only cause that could be spotted for the above was the food served at the canteen, which we strongly suspect, was either stale or adulterated to cater to the large number of people who had been to the canteen that day.
I request you to kindly see in to the matter and take strict action against the concerned malefactors and to prevent such incidents in the future for we (moreover being a female) still believe that Irctc canteens are safe places to have healthy food at Railway stations
