Claim Check Number - 9W 585891
I had taken flight 9W 351 (BOM-DEL) on 31.01. where my baggage was damaged in transit. The baggage was handed over to me at the Delhi airport with one side completely torn apart. Two weeks have passed and I'm yet to receive a replacement... for various reasons.
Here are certain pertinent points I would like to make in this regard.
1. Although the baggage was beyond repair and the same agreed upon by the attending officer, it was mentioned in the form as 'to be repaired'. The reason give to me was - 'this is redundant'.
2. I had categorically told the airport baggage executive that I would be travelling again on 02.02.2009 evening and obviously will be requiring the replacement before that. The damaged piece was picked up from my residence promptly on 01.02.2009. However, even after calling up the contact numbers repeatedly on the mentioned date my case was not attended to. At 5 pm I was contacted to be informed that the vendor was then ready to plan the delivery, unfortunately I was already on my way out (with a little help from my friend).
3. Since then there was no effort to communicate the matter to me till I returned to Delhi and called the Jet Airways executive on 07.02.2009.
4. On 07.02.2009 evening, a certain piece of baggage was delivered to me at my residence... which, to no person in his right senses, would appear anywhere close to the original piece. Needless to say, I had no other option but to return the piece.
5. Eversince I have been calling up Jet persistently. What is striking and worrying from a consumer point of view is that there is no single point of contact and no one taking responsibility, only ineffective and dumb phone executives wording out automated reponses.
I would like to bring this gross irresponsibility to your notice and hope that you will be able to take immediate action in this regard.
