I boarded the Jet Airways flight 9W 202 from Kolkata to Pune via Mumbai on 29th Oct. The flight was scheduled to take off at 6:25 am but actually did so only at 8:30 owing to low visibility in Kolkata.
On arrival at Mumbai airport, I was surprised when asked to get off the flight, because the plane continues to Pune after dropping off Mumbai passengers and picking up ones for Pune.
Once on the ground, Jet staff informed us that the flight had been cancelled!!! and would not proceed to Pune. Instead, they offered a drop to Pune by road.
At this, stage, they did not even have any of the taxis waiting for pickup. The ground staff spent a lot of time working out combinations such that four people could be accommdated in a single vehicle. When asked, they replied rather vaguely, stating that taxis would reach in 5 mins, which soon changed to 15. It was evident that they had not bothered to have the taxis waiting, knowing fully well that the flight had been cancelled.
The entire episode left a bitter taste in our mouths - the utter indifference of the ground staff and lack of any effort at proactivity was appalling.
Finally, a fellow passenger and I decided to take refund for the Mumbai-Pune sector and proceed via taxi to Pune. The procedure at the Jet ticketing counter took almost half an hour as uninformed staff ran around without purpose.
It was a relief when we were finally handed the refund and could step out into the Mumbai afternoon.
