ABN Maestro card
No place accepts it

I have a Maestro card form the ABN NL where I have an account. I live in the US now, and I don't seem to be able to use it. It doesn't work in the ATM, and stores online won't accept it.

Any ideas? Because every quarter the bank deducts Euros 3.75 for service fee, but where is the service???
