Pre-Paid SIM not blocked after lost

I lost my Nokia Mobile with Airtel Pre-Paid Connection on 26-June-09, I tried to inform the AirTel Customer Service since that day & finally managed to get through today (28-Jun-09), but surprisingly... their records said that the phone no. was in their records on some one else name? Surprisingly, my wife has been using this phone for the last three years & the connection is on her name only!!! Finally, I was not able to block my SIM, to prevent any misuse & also I am paralyzed to order for a new SIM to start using my mobile... with the Airtel connection.
