Inflated bill and cheating by Airtel

I had posted the same complaint on 9th October, and Mr Rakesh from Airtel mentioned that the issue has been resolved, however, pls note that no one has worked on my complaint at all.

I didnt understand why was it written by Mr Rakesh that my issue is resolved in complaints board site when it has not been resolved?

I am mentioning my issue in detail again. Would like you to get this resolved as this is pending for last 2-3 months.

Issue:

3G was activated on my mobile on 3rd July. While opting for 3G plan, Airtel executive did not mention all the plans so that I could make the best choice. Rs 675 plan was not told to me which was relatively a cheaper plan.

While the 3G plan was active I received some random SMS from Airtel on GPRS usage and to pay certain sum of money. Since I was well within the free usage I called the call center to enquire about the SMS being sent to me. I was told by call center executive to ignore these messages.

I was never given regular update on the 3G usage. Since there was no regular update on the 3G usage, I decided to call the call center to enquire the usage of 3G, however, I was never given the details. Every time I called Airtel they told me that the data is not available or server is down etc. They used to promise me a call back but never gave a call back. I never received the details even when I sent a pull SMS “3GUSE” to Airtel.

One of the SMS I got from Airtel on 3G use was till 80% of free usage. No SMS was sent to me from airtel post 80% free usage. Not sure if Airtel intentionally wants to keep its customers in dark so that the usage crosses Free limit and they can charge Huge sum of money.

Around 15th of July 3G services on my mobile was barred without any prior information to me. When I called the call center they could not provide any details and asked me to call post 2nd Aug as the bill would get generated on 2nd Aug.

Post 2nd Aug, when I called the call center I was told that the bill amount for my 3G usage is Rs. 20, 188/- Seriously speaking I almost had a heart attack, 20K for two weeks of 3G usage?

The bill sent to me of Rs 20, 188 is very very high. I have not used so much of 3G to get such a high bill. I have not got any clarity/explanation from Airtel on this till date.

Later when I asked for the detail bill I found the following discrepancies in the bill. I have raised similar concern with Airtel but no satisfactory response till date.

1. 3G on my mobile was activated on 3rd July. However detailed bill for my number shows 3G usage of 14 KB and 56229 KB on 2nd July.

2. As per the SMS sent to me on 15th Jul 12.22 pm “Your 3G data usage as on 13th Jul is 1322 MB”. However as per the detailed bill sent to me the data usage by end of 13th Jul is 1880 MB. Bill has been inflated by more than 500 MB.

3. As per the SMS sent on 16th Jul 21.57 pm, “Presently there is no 3G data plan active on your number. To avail a data plan of your choice SMS 3G to 121”. However as per the bill there is a 3G usage of 375532 KB ie 366.73 MB on 17th July and 3 KB usage on 18th July.

4. As per the detailed bill there is a usage of 3G at morning around 3 am or 4 am on 6th, 7th, 10th 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th 18th. All these usage are for 1 – 4 KB only. I don’t think someone would use 3G for 1 or 2 KB at night 3 am. There seems to be a major problem with the bill.

5. As per the bill my Credit limit is Rs. 5000/- Why didn’t Airtel disconnect 3G on my mobile when the bill crossed Rs 5000/- why did it wait for the bill to reach Rs 20k.

I have raised all these concerns to Airtel for last 2 months, however, there has not been any satisfactory response from them.

Please note that I have not used so much of 3G to get such a high bill. My usage has been well within free usage limit. Airtel has not update me on the status of my usage through regular SMS. Nor has Airtel provided me information whenever I have called or SMS them.

I believe that this is a clear case of misleading the customer and not providing good service and complete information. It is a case of inflating the bill and cheating the customer.

Pls help resolve this at the earliest.
