Vodafone India
Service not activated despite repeated assurance

Thakur Village, Vodafone gallery representative – Wasim says Vodafone call centre people may have lied to you and provided false information. Very interesting indeed!!!

My dad recently ported in to Vodafone and is already regretting his decision. A platinum customer with Loop Mobile earlier with a credit limit of Rs. 7, 000/- is already facing nightmares with Vodafone guys. His all-India ISD calling has not been activated yet despite repeated assurances from Vodafone call centre guys. I have already made 4 calls and 2 visits to Vodafone gallery. When I visited the gallery 2 weeks back, I was told that ISD activation would happen only after physical verification which would happen in 2-3 days max. It took 8 days for the Vodafone representative to come home for the PV. This happened on Saturday. Post this, he mentioned that all we need to do is now send an SMS saying ACT ISD to 111 on Monday and the service will be activated. This did not happen. I then called the call center and spoke to Ashraf on the phone on December 24th about the same. He started telling me about some deposit that needs to be paid for the activation of ISD – something that NOBODY had mentioned to us before. I then insisted that I wish to speak to his supervisor which he very reluctantly connected me to. Unfortunately, I do not recall his name. But after listening to the entire case, he said he has forwarded a request for the activation of the same and it will be done in 4 hours max. It did not happen. On 25th December I called again and spoke to an executive, reciting the complete story again. At the end of the conversation after telling him that I will need to think about porting out, he assured me that the activation will be done. But this was not done again. On December 26th, I called again and spoke to Nadeem who said that since the PV process was still on it had not got activated. My Dad would receive an SMS by 27th around 4.00pm saying that PV process and credit verification process has been completed, post which I can send the SMS – ACT ISD to 111 and it will get activated within 4 hours without any deposit. This again did not happen. Hence, I visited the Vodafone gallery at Thakur Village today around 4.00pm and met up with this gentleman Wasim who very patiently listened to my story and recited the same words – there is a deposit that needs to be paid. When I told him about the repeated assurances that I was given by the call centre executives and asked him if they were lying, he says, “Yes”. He also says with absolute arrogance and insensitivity that there is no point arguing over the same thing again and again and that he would not be able to help. So there goes your tagline of ‘HAPPY TO HELP’ in the dustbin.

I personally have a relationship with Vodafone as a customer since 2001. But if this attitude of Vodafone representatives continue, even I will need to start thinking about porting out.
