Dear Reader
I REGRET THE DAY I CALLED AIRTEL @ 121 AND ASKED THEM TO PROVIDE A NEW NUMBER
A customer executive was sent on 02.11.10 to my house and he gave his name as Anil and his phone no as 9663878700.
A SIM no was given to me is 89914500030045742622 with Mobile No : 9880398328.
He collected Proof of Address and Identity and charged Rs. 300 for connection charges. When we enquired for a receipt, he informed that it will be adjusted against Security Deposit and will reflect in the next bill.
On 4th Nov (Diwali) I had provided this number to all my friends and had asked them to call. When i inserted the new SIM, it gave a message that Emergency Calls only. Major Embarrassment.
I called 121 (Airtel Customer care) only to be assured that the number will be activated soon. After several calls to 121 till 12th of Nov I was told that the representative had given the wrong SIM card series for the said number.
Each time I had to call and explain the whole situation to a different person. I was finally told by
your help desk that either I needed to contact the representative who provided this SIM or go to the airtel showroom and get a duplicate SIM. However the representative's mobile number is switched off since the day he gave the SIM card.
Adding to the misery, I received an Airtel Bill charging for usage of the mobile number.
I decided enough was enough and raised request for the cancellation of the connection through email.
On receipt of cancellation request, I received a response saying that my service is disconnected due to non-receipt of documents as per their records and the information that i provided information that's insufficient.
I wonder how they managed to send bill to my address and also a verification performed at my address when the records that i provided proved to be insufficient???
They have asked me to keep my mobile switched on and wait for their call.. I have waited for over a month and still it displays that i can make Emergency Calls only.
While an Airtel Representative promises to return the documents submitted and to refund the amount and another Airtel representative still keeps asking for the receipt and the documentations. The Airtel Representative who gave the SIM card is absconding and is not traceable (even by Airtel staff).
It is a clear case of fraud and misappropriation of my money and document.
At the age of 70, i'm still following up with the Airtel Representatives everyday to get my documents and money back.
I'm also contactable on 91 98940 39838. Hope someone can help.
