I made a purchase on my credit card in April for 700 rupees and forgot to pay the bill for the first time in 8 years because I had to leave the country on short notice. I was charged a late payment fee of Rs. 400. When I called ICICI and asked them if the late payment fee could be reversed because of my history, they said they will decrease it by Rs. 200. The customer service agent gave me a new amount due of Rs. 900 (Rs 700 purchases Rs 200 late payment fees) and I promptly made the payment in June. Last week I got an email from ICICI Bank Credit Cards saying I had a due of Rs. 2400 on my account and that my information had been reported to CIBIL. I have not used my credit card for the last 5 mounths because I am not in India. When I checked my account details I found that I was being charged late payment fee of 400 for the last 5 months and that had added up to 2400 ruppes over the months. When I called up the customer service today, they told me that my only option was to make the payment of Rs. 2400 or else it could impact all my future loan/credit transactions. I am extremely upset with the way ICICI Bank is cheating it's customers. They have left me with no choice but to make the payment. I will never deal with ICICI bank again.
