Loss of Baggage

I had couriered a VIP ELANZA suitcase containing my clothes, accessories, BOOKS and few original certificates vide Docket No. 435655790 from my college (BITS Pilani, Goa Campus) Goa to New Delhi on 14 May 10. However, till date the item has not been delivered and has presumably been lost. There has been no positive response from the company till now. Though the items inside were worth about 16000Rs, the firm rep while booking the item (at my college premises) did not tell me to indicate the value anywhere in the document. Now the firm says that under this condition, the value of the courier is JUST Re ONE only. I do not know what to do next. I have spoken to their head of services but to no avail. Please Advise.
