HSBC Credit Card
Settlement letter received, but card still shows outstanding

I have settled my HSBC credit card account for an amount of 40000/- and also received a settlement letter. The letter clearly mentioned that if I pay the said dues before 30/08 my account with them will be deemed closed. They have confirmed the receipt of 40000/- however the HSBC phone banking executives still maintain that my account is not closed and that the payment received by them is not for settlement but for my regular dues. I still receive calls from collection agencies for outstanding amount every month and I always fax the copy of settlement letter to satisfy (read: get rid of) them. this has been going on from August till date. I need to know what can be done regarding this. Please help.
