At time of opening account in was assured online PPF balance/transaction facility will be available. Now, to neither the facility has been provided, nor there is any helpdesk for ppf issues. The number mentioned on the PPF statement sent every year is never reachable. Once, a newcomer picked up the phone on this number and he was severely admonished by his peers in the background for picking up the phone.. Realizing his folly, he mumbled that he could not hear me speaking on the phone and kept the phone down abruptly. For transferring money or getting to know balance in my the PPF a/c I have been said by the ICICI Customer Service Representative that I can do it by visiting the ICICI branch (Nariman Point) where I opened the PPF a/c even if I am outstation or at internationl location or by sending a proxy in my place. Some weeks back, I was informed PPF account facility is discontinued by ICICI. Just because PPF rates are not profitable for ICICI they have significantly downgraded PPF experience.
