My name is Pradeep Vasudevan. I booked a couple ticket Hotel combo offer on Makemytrip.com for 28 Feb which included airfare and hotel charge which came around 18063.

When I completed my booking I realised that my name was appearing twice for the airline and hotel booking. I mistakenly skipped the option where I had to fill up the second passengers name. So the system took my name as the default and both the tickets were booked on my name. The system should not have allowed me to book the ticket if I had not put the second name or atleast should have shown an alert.
As I had to travel with my wife, and the ticket not having her name would not allow to travel with me. My name was appearing twice in the list. In vain I contacted Makemytrip customer care telling them that my name is appearing twice and I need to change it. They said this cannot be changed. So, I was asked to contact indigo and spicejet airlines. But the airlines refused to change the name as it was not there policy. But the itinery clearly showed my name twice. How can one single person travel twice in the same plane?
So, I was routed back to MakeMyTrip.com. This episode took one hour and finally the customer care told me that as this is a combo offer I would have to cancel the flight and hotel booking together. I was charged around Rs 4250 as charges for not putting the second name.
I beleive this is totally a fraud being done with consumers. The system should be designed in such a way as to avoid these irregularities. It should have alerts telling the customer to put the second passengers name or it shoud not proceed further.
Because of this flaw in the booking system I have lost valuable hard earned money.
If I can get my this amount reimbursed and the website corrected. It would be a great help to me as well as to others who use online booking systems.
