Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications
Mobile not working

I had the misfortune to buy a Sony Ericsson product a mobile G502 on 15.11.2008. Right from day 1 I had problems charging it. Finally it just stopped charging on 21st May i.e. almost 6 months of purchase. I went to the outlet where I had bought the set - Sony World 171/201, MMSS Building, Near Germanus Hotel, Chokkalinga Nagar, By pass Road, Madurai 625016. After 2 - 3 of their staff members tried their hand they confirmed what I already knew that it had to be repaired. They gave me the address and number of the service centre Accel Frontline. I do not know why such a service centre has been selected if not for their excellent harassment techniques. Are you aware that to get a product repaired we have to go only between 9 to 5 on a working day (2nd Saturday excluded) and spend 2 to 3 hours just to get them to accept the product for servicing. Why isn't this mentioned in the terms and conditions that the customers should be jobless? Anyway I managed to hand it in to Accel somewhere in the last week of May (they have taken back the challan so I dont know the exact date). I expected them to call when the set was ready but of course that's expecting too much of such an organisation. I also contacted Sony World and they promised to intervene and then conveniently forgot about it. After all they have got the money then why bother about the customer. Anyway, after almost a month i.e. on 25th June I managed to get the mobile back. They charged me Rs.376/- as they said that some part had been touched by water and thats not covered. Some engineer kindly pointed out to my uneducated self that sweat in the shirt pocket can also cause the damage - wonderful isnt it? asking someone to avoid sweat in a tropical country. Anyway I felt I deserved a punishment for buying the product so I coughed up the money. I came home and found it was again not charging. I went to the Service centre and they said it was fine. I had to leave station and so I tried charging it in the train, in a hotel etc. etc. - it charges at some places and not at others. Then I found that my voice was totally inaudible to the other person. On my return I took it to the Service Centre again and they said the mike might have to be replaced. I have now given it in on 2nd July and the service centre is still waiting for the mike after 15 days. What should I do? I have spent a total of Rs.9899/- on the product with accessories Rs.376 for repair in June? amount for the repair now telephone calls petrol to run from pillar to post and so I just cannot shrug my shoulders and give it up as a bad bargain. I have no intention of going to Sony World as they have made it clear that after sales service is not part of their portfolio. I am writing this 1 letter as a last attempt at some sort of reasonable solution. Let me see if it materialises.

p.s. I have used Nokia and Samsung mobiles before this and I did not even have the necessity of contacting them once in more than 4-5 years of usage.
