Complain for replacement or refund for defective shoes

I bought a "Power" shoes from Bata Showroom (Bata Shoe Store, Chalakkal Agencies, Bangalore -43, Phone No - 25458851) just 3 days back for Rs. 999/- (bill no. 9546 dated 9th Oct'2008). The Shoe stiches have come out (for the part called "Tongue". I had to do some research to understand what it is called). I requested the dealer for replacement or refund but he is not agreeing. I feel cheated buying the shoes from a reputed Shoe company like Bata. Please help
